Meet the Artist
When: Thursday Oct 19th – 6pm to 8pm
Where: Beachside Coffee Bar & Kitchen at 4300 Judah Street and 48th Ave
As part of the La Playa Pedestrian Improvements Pilot Project, new public art is proposed for the area at the intersection of Judah Street and La Playa Street, including a mural on the Muni operator restroom at the southeast corner of the intersection. In coordination with the La Playa Pedestrian Improvements Pilot Project, the San Francisco Arts Commission is leading a public artworks project for the same area to create a gateway to Ocean Beach.
At the “Meet the Artist” community event, neighbors met Jesse Schlesinger, the artist that had been selected for the gateway feature, and learned about the proposed installation of seating and sculptures. The public artworks project is a permanent installation, funded and managed by the San Francisco Arts Commission. Participants also provided ideas for the newly-commissioned mural.
Participants also had the opportunity to review the La Playa Pedestrian Improvements Pilot Project and learned more about the upcoming temporary traffic circulation and parking changes as well as the NX bus rerouting to 48th Avenue.
