New creatures in the Commons!

In September, Knits for Life artists installed the first set of land, sea, and air creatures in Civic Center public spaces, installing giraffes in Civic Center Plaza, parrots on Fulton Street near the SF Library Main Branch, and Octopus creatures in United Nations Plaza.

In February 2018, the Knits for Life artist-sister-duo returned to the Commons, swapping the parrots on Fulton street with new creatures in Civic Center Plaza to celebrate the grand opening of the Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds. Come visit the Commons to check out the new chameleon and sea otter creatures in Civic Center Plaza – they’re positioned to look in on the new playgrounds! Both the Knits for Life project and the new playgrounds represent a collaborative effort to bring more positive activity to San Francisco’s central public spaces as part of the Civic Center Commons initiative.
