The San Francisco Planning Department recently approved three new parklets for Hayes Valley, but due to a planned city construction project in the area, residents and shoppers will likely have to wait until late 2016 to enjoy them.

Hoodline reports that a number of business teamed up in order to get approval from the Planning Department. The parklets will be in front of PUBLIC Bikes, Paxti's Pizza and Souvla, and Loving Cup and Artís Coffee.

“We’re excited to offer an inviting public space for people to enjoy," COO of PUBLIC Bikes Dan Nguyen-Tan told Hoodline. "The inspiration behind our company name, PUBLIC, is that we believe people-friendly public spaces—our parks, plazas, and streets—are the bedrock of great cities and neighborhoods, where people of all backgrounds can interact with each other."

The projects are all intended for Hayes Street, which itself is due to be ripped up for installation of a new sewage line, notes Hoodline. As such, work installing the parklets cannot begin until the sewage project is complete.

At present, designs for the newly approved parklets are not available.
