Project News
Student Workshop 1 at Redding Elementary

The Groundplay team worked with 5th graders at Redding Elementary to develop a vision for Frank Norris Alley. This first session involved a thought exercise where the students took a mental walk through their everyday lives as students. Using this activity, they were asked to develop a ‘mental map’ of their school, play areas and Frank Norris Alley. The student’s maps revealed many things about the alley and the school’s play areas, including safety concerns and some of the activities they enjoyed doing during recess. Moving forward the project seeks to mitigate the concerns that were identified while also bringing activation ideas forward to be implemented in the near-term.
